It's Fairies vs. The House of Lords

Step into a world where fairies meddle in politics and romance defies the laws of Parliament! Iolanthe, one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most fantastical operas, whisks you away to a topsy-turvy realm where magical mischief meets legal absurdity. When the fairy Iolanthe returns from exile, her half-fairy, half-mortal son Strephon finds himself caught between love and an overbearing House of Lords.

Iolanthe (pronounced "eye-oh-LAN-thee") is a comic opera sung in English and is enjoyable for all ages.  Expect sparkling satire, enchanting melodies, and a riot of whimsical chaos as fairies battle pompous politicians. Will true love triumph over red tape? Will Parliament ever be the same? Only one way to find out—join the fun!

    An All-New Production

The Society is thrilled to present an all-new staging of this timeless work, following the vision of stage director Alyssa Weathersby and under the baton of music director Keith Chambers  The costumes and set will pop with color and lush, natural themes, while the design will include touches of Art Nouveau and nods to the opera's original production from 1882. Enjoy this fresh take on a beloved classic!
